Community Scam & Fraud Awareness Presentation
As part of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to education and public safety, we are offering free fraud and scam prevention presentations to neighborhood communities and homeowner associations.
Presented by: Lt. Eric Calendine
Lt. Calendine is a 25-year veteran of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and currently leads the Southern Investigations Division. With extensive experience in fraud prevention, community education, and elder safety, Lt. Calendine delivers engaging presentations designed to empower residents with the knowledge they need to avoid becoming victims.

In 2023, it was estimated that over $156 billion was stolen nationwide through scams and fraud schemes, many targeting seniors and retirees. These crimes are growing in frequency and sophistication, making public awareness essential.
About Lt. Eric Calendine
Originally from Pittsford, NY, Lt. Calendine played football at the University of Maryland from 1995 to 1999, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Since joining the Sheriff’s Office in 2000, he has served in patrol, investigations, high crimes, SWAT, and dive teams. He currently oversees Southern Enforcement Investigations and serves as the administrator for Project Lifesaver, a program for individuals with cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Autism. Lt. Calendine is a dedicated family man, married with two children and two yellow labs. He has delivered over 70 public presentations on fraud and scams across Beaufort County.
