Babkiewicz began his tenure at Bluffton Police Department in 2008 and served as a police officer, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. In his various positions at the Bluffton Police Department, he supervised the investigations division, patrol division, K9 unit, internal affairs division, special response team, field training, community events and criminal investigations. He also was acting emergency manager during Hurricane Matthew. He also served as the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies accreditation manager.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police awarded him the “40 Under 40” Leadership Award in 2016.

Babkiewicz started his law enforcement career in the Town of Bloomfield, Connecticut.

A Massachusetts native, Babkiewicz earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ashford University and a Master of Science degree in criminal justice and public administration. He completed the FBI National Academy in 2013. Babkiewicz also served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years.

Babkiewicz lives in Bluffton with his wife, Becky, and has a 22-year-old son, Andrew, and a 17-year-old daughter, Ashlyn.
