Dr. Novince
Low Country Alliance for Healthy Youth

Dr. Novince, a former university professor, holds a Ph.D. in the disciplines of Developmental, Educational, and Counseling Psychology. As an educational consultant and trainer, she has conducted in-service trainings for schools and agencies and presented at numerous statewide and national conferences on topics addressing healthy child and adolescent development.

Since 2012, she has served as consultant to the LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth, a community prevention coalition serving Southern Beaufort County.  She has extensive experience in coalition development and coalition-based prevention planning systems designed to promote positive youth development and reduce child/adolescent risk-taking behaviors. During Senator Rob Portman’s tenure as a congressman in Ohio, Dr. Novince collaborated with him when he facilitated the passage of the Drug-Free Communities Act in 1998.

Throughout her career, she has served on school, community, and state committees and boards whose objectives are to promote positive youth development. Locally, she serves on several Boards including serving as vice-chair of the School Improvement Committee at Bluffton High School. As an applied social scientist, Dr. Novince has always placed high importance on stimulating community awareness and action to address and promote child and adolescent health and wellness. Moreover, she envisions that community prevention coalitions are positioned to play a key role in health prevention and promotion.
