NEXT MEETING: THIS WEDNESDAY 5/19
Our next club meeting is this Wednesday, May 19th, at 7:30am. This meeting will be IN-PERSON at the Bluffton Rotary Building. For those members of the club who can't join us in person, please log onto Facebook and go to the Bluffton Rotary Club Facebook Page and tune into the live Facebook stream of the meeting.

Mayor Lisa Sulka will give an update to the club about all the upcoming events and projects in Bluffton. Mayor Lisa Sulka has called the Bluffton- Hilton Head area home for 38 years. Born and raised in Prosperity, SC, a small southern town just outside of Columbia, she finished her higher education at Clemson University. After college, Lisa moved to Hilton Head Island and started her own business, which she owned for 15 years. This business venture led to her relationship with Hampton Hall, where she was part of the original sales team. Lisa currently works for Carson Realty, a full-service real estate firm in Bluffton, SC.
A Bluffton resident for 29 years, she and her husband John enjoy spending time with their children, Brannon and Haley, both graduates of Clemson, and Michael from Auburn University. Favorite family outings include water sports, crabbing and shrimping and enjoying the beautiful, pristine May River.
Lisa is involved with many boards and commissions, including the Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation and the Don Ryan Center for Innovation. She is an Honorary Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the Heritage Classic Foundation, a member of the Municipal Association of South Carolina Board, and is Chair of the Lowcountry Area Transportation Metropolitan Planning Organization. Lisa is a graduate of the Riley Institute Diversity Leadership Foundation and is actively involved with the students in all of Bluffton's schools and is involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Bluffton's Advisory Board.
Lisa served on Bluffton Town Council from 2004 to 2008, running for Mayor in 2007. Lisa began serving as Bluffton Mayor in January 2008 and is currently serving her fourth term.
RECAP: VIRTUAL CLUB DISTRICT CONFERENCE
THE BLUFFTON ROTARY CLUB NAMED RUNNER UP FOR DISTRICT 7770 LARGE CLUB OF THE YEAR!
The District 7770 Conference & Awards were held virtually on May 4th. The winner of our District's large club of the year was the Daniel Island Club, but OUR CLUB WAS RUNNER UP FOR LARGE CLUB OF THE YEAR!! Congrats to the president, board members and all the club members who volunteered their time and efforts to help our club be so successful this year despite many challenges from the pandemic. A special congratulations to our Club President, Joanie Iaco, who won the Make Your Own Mark Award. Joanie attended meetings for several months to discuss ways District 7770 could be 'different.' Joanie suggested some new initiatives for the club from those meetings, in particular, the upcoming First Responders Award to thank a deserving first responder for their service in our community.
Below is a link to the slides from the conference presentation.
RECAP: 5-12 MEETING
