NO MEETING THIS WEEK - NEXT MTNG: 3/10
Our next club meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30am. THIS MEETING WILL BE ON ZOOM ONLY. The Zoom link will be provided closer to the meeting. This will be a business meeting for the club.

In an abundance of caution, the board opted to cancel the in-person portion of our next meetings because of COVID-19, but we will still meet as a club on Zoom.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON ZOOM!
RECAP: FEBRUARY 24th MEETING
Speaker Recap:
At our last meeting, interim Town Manager for Bluffton, Scott Marshall, spoke to the club about current and upcoming projects around town. Marshall, a retired Air Force officer, was appointed Interim Town Manager in January 2021. Prior to being named Interim Town Manager, Marshall served as the Deputy Town Manager for the Town of Bluffton since December of 2015. He was employed by Beaufort County since his arrival to the Lowcountry in June, 2009. While serving Beaufort County, he was the Executive Director of the Board of Elections and Registration until June, 2013 when he was named Director of Parks and Leisure Services.
Marshall gave a very helpful overview of the town website and showed us where to locate information on permits to see what's being built and the status of building projects throughout the permitting process. He also showed us how to look up town action items which can cover anything from policy items to street light projects.
Service Project Updates:
Jim Evans gave an update on upcoming service projects. We will be hosting Happy Feet this year on March 27th, 8am to 10am at MC Riley Elementary. After talking with the school counselors, it became very apparent that kids still need shoes whether there's a pandemic going on or not. We are working to follow Covid-19 safety protocols and hope to hold this event outside weather permitting. More information to come on Happy Feet soon.
Several other upcoming service projects include a landscape project of the Field of Dreams to celebrate Arbor Day on April 30th. We will need donations of plants (we have worked with a local nursery and have earmarked the plants that will work best for the landscape), and we will need volunteers to help plant the plants on April 30th. We will send out more information about donating plants and a volunteer sign-up sheet for the actual planting in the near future.
A small number of volunteers are needed for an oyster-bagging refill project proposed for March in partnership with the local CCA chapter.
This will take place on the May River, and we will send more information about this project when we have it.
Below is a picture of our last Zoom meeting.

BOOK DONATIONS NEEDED FOR FREE LITTLE LIBRARIES
We still need book donations for the two Little Free Libraries our club maintains.
Please consider donating any children's or adult books so we can keep both little libraries fully stocked.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - ROCS IS ON MARCH 6
ROTARIANS OFFERING COMMUNITY SERVICE (ROCS) is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2021.  Projects include a number of familiar locations and activities, but there are a couple of new options including a virtual project or two in response to COVID concerns.

Please review the available projects at the sign-up link, https://signup.com/go/vymddcq and volunteer to participate in this important Community Service Club Initiative as you are able - one minor clarification, the outdoor window and door cleaning will be at Deep Well.  As always the other Area 4 Clubs will be participating and you are welcome to invite friends and family to participate (just be sure to include them in your sign-up)

Local non-profits need our support more than ever as they provide their needed services during this challenging time. - and the projects are always a pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning.
