Join us this Wednesday at the Rotary Community Center at 7:30 AM for our weekly meeting. Our guest speaker will be Mark H. McCain with Shelter Box.
Mark is a member of the Sea Island Rotary Club in Beaufort, a Paul Harris Rotarian Major Contributor, and serves as a District 7770 ShelterBox Ambassador.
As a civil engineer possessing a Professional Engineers license, Mark worked in the field of critical infrastructure civil engineering. Mr. McCain is a recipient of the President of the United States “Volunteer Service Award” for his invaluable contributions as a ShelterBox representative in response to emergencies around transforming the lives of families.
Having a passion for Rotary service, Mark believes that through the Rotary Club of Bluffton’s involvement in helping serve others during the worst of times, we offer the opportunity as reflected in the words of the Bible to provide, “HOPE”.
On May 29 we held a 5th Wednesday Pizza Party Game Night. A great time was had by all and thanks to Cara Vercellone for organizing the event and providing side dishes and a dessert tower, Jim Evans for Pizza, Mary O'Neill for drinks and paper products, Dana and Linda for greeting and providing name tags, Catherine and Bill for manning the bar and Mike Raymond for the sound system!

Do you worry about Alzheimer’s? We do not have a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but we must find one. Finding a cure starts with you. Every year the CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) Fund gives research grants focused on finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Have you given to the CART Fund this year? The CART Fund is dedicated to raising funds to provide “seed” money for cutting edge, high impact research in hopes of finding a cure/prevention for Alzheimer’s disease. The goal of the CART Fund is to encourage exploratory and developmental Alzheimer’s disease research projects within the United States. This is accomplished by providing financial support for the early and conceptual plans of those projects that may not yet be supported by extensive preliminary data but have the potential to substantially advance biomedical research. These projects should be distinct from those designed to increase knowledge in a well-established area unless they intend to extend previous discoveries toward new directions or applications.
