We will feature Brent Whitaker at our March 19 meeting.
Brent is one of our professional coaches at Business on Purpose. He has been in organizational leadership since 2011, with tenured experience working for Centex Homes, DR HORTON among other builders. The past 3 years have been fully focused on small business coaching.
He has a degree in Marketing and management from The University of South Carolina and wakes up every morning excited to liberate business owners from chaos while impacting their personal lives as well. His most recent expertise and focus has been centered on helping family owned businesses build the necessary systems and processes to create a succession plan and cultivate freedom from their work.
Brent is a regular contributor to the Business on Purpose Podcast, where he shares real life stories of transformation and encourages all listeners to work ON their business, not just IN. His client success stories span a wide variety of industries, but his niche is the contractor and trade spaces. He also has the privilege of coaching one of the nation's largest builders.
When not liberating business owners from chaos, he can be found enjoying intentional time with “his girls..” Leigh (wife) Ada James (daughter) and black lab Ollie May. An avid surfer, paddle surfer, snowboarder and all around outdoor enthusiast he has found time to pioneer a cold water therapy club and Whiskey Club. Brent thrives at helping folks accomplish their vision, creating purpose, and helping folks cultivate Unique core values that impact life and work!
At our meeting on March 12 we hosted Front Porch Improv from Savannah! They led us through some improve exercises to show how we could reduce inhibition, become more creative.....and have a lot of fun. Many thanks to them.
Our speaker on March 12 was Chandler Horney, a Law Enforcement Victim Advocate for the Human Trafficking unit at SLED.
She dispelled some of the rumors around human trafficking, and clarified that the majority of cases are related to family members or those familiar to the victim.
Last year South Carolina dealt with 285 cases with 392 victims in 40 of 46 counties. What is of great concern is that adult cases have risen 58% this year. The state lacks sufficient resources to deal with the labor and sex trafficking cases, particularly in relation to adult and male victims.
Satellite Club News: Many thanks to Susan and David Tirard who participated in Rose Hill's charity golf event and raised $895 for the Bluffton Community Kitchen.
Regardless of issue, please let us know if something is going on to prevent you from attending our meetings. We have many members who can help, pray, or just call to lift your spirits.

Do you worry about Alzheimer’s? We do not have a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but we must find one. Finding a cure starts with you. Every year the CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) Fund gives research grants focused on finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Have you given to the CART Fund this year? The CART Fund is dedicated to raising funds to provide “seed” money for cutting edge, high impact research in hopes of finding a cure/prevention for Alzheimer’s disease. The goal of the CART Fund is to encourage exploratory and developmental Alzheimer’s disease research projects within the United States. This is accomplished by providing financial support for the early and conceptual plans of those projects that may not yet be supported by extensive preliminary data but have the potential to substantially advance biomedical research. These projects should be distinct from those designed to increase knowledge in a well-established area unless they intend to extend previous discoveries toward new directions or applications.
