Last week, Jo Pender spoke to us about Second Helpings and their wonderful programs, including the Palmetto Breeze Food Program. Second Helpings began in 1992 and has grown to be the premier local organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community. Their army of volunteers operate a fleet of refrigerated trucks seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. Second Helpings is not a food pantry; they collect surplus food from grocery and other stores and distribute it the same day to our Distribution Agency Partners. They in turn, provide it to those who need it. FUN FACT: They rescued the world's largest meatball! https://www.blufftontoday.com/news/2017-12-02/lowcountry-club-creates-world-s-largest-meatball
